Sunday Reflections

All shall work together for good, everything is needful that He sends, nothing can be needful that He withholds.....you have need for patience, and if you ask the Lord will give it. But there can be no settled peace, till our will is in a measure subdued......fight against every thought that would represent it as desirable to be permitted to choose for yourself. When your spirit is overwhelmed within you, He will not leave you to sink. And keep close to the throne of grace.
If we seem to get no good by drawing near to Him, we may be sure we shall get none by keeping away from Him.

----John Newton, author of Amazing Grace

Lon Solomon talks about the Tenth Commandment, Thou Shall not Covet, here.

Psalm 121
I shall lift up my eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: He that keepth thee will not slumber.
Behold, He that keepth Is'ra-el shall neither slumber not sleep.
The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD shall perserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul.
The LORD shall perserve thy going out, and thy coming in,
from this time forth and even for evermore.

what a beautiful photo of the craggy mountains around Jackson Hole.

"fight against every thought that would represent it as desirable to be permitted to choose for yourself." I don't agree with Newton. I want the freedom to choose, and I ask for the Holy Spirit to guide me in making good choices.
