Rep. Tom Lantos: Has He Finally Jumped the Shark?

I am deeply concerned and saddened by what I am hearing and reading about the only Holocaust survivor to ever serve in Congress, Rep. Tom Lantos of California: He's ready to go with Nancy ("Come let us reason together on the road to Damascus!") Pelosi, to open a dialogue with none other than serial Jew hater and would-be exterminator II, Iranian President Ahmadinejad.
What in the world is he thinking?

After returning from the ill-fated trip Madame Pelosi led recently to the Middle East and Syria, against the Bush Administration's strong objections (Yes, yes, I know some Republicans took another delegation to Syria--also against the Administration's strong objections. And that both groups were briefed by the U.S. State Department, which did not condone the trips either.), he's ready to do it again!
He must be basking in the perceived glory of his mission of hijacking foreign policy!
Has Lantos suffered a fatal case of "messianic complex?"
Has he finally jumped the shark?
And is he vying for the 2007 Appeasement Award in honor of Neville Chamberlain, who steadfastly, naively, tried to dialogue with Hitler before World War II?
I'm afraid the answer to all three of these questions is sadly, yes.
Mr. Lantos, what are you thinking?
Please consider taking a chair, Sir, and thinking through the consequences of your actions here, and of the possibility of throwing your reputation away in this process.
Power corrupts absolutely, and I'm afraid that even Tom Lantos, whom I have always admired though often disagreed with, has fallen prey to this maxim.
Really sad.
